When you see a label on a plastic water bottle that says "BPA Free" what does that exactly mean?
BPA stands for BISEPHENOL-a, which is a chemical that manufactures' choose to use when creating plastic product or used in lining used to seal aluminum and tin can.
Why is BPA bad for you?
This type of poisoning won't kill you over night but over time it will start to affect your health in subtle ways such as low energy, behavioral problems in children, miscarriages and it has even been linked to birth defects such as Down syndrome. BPA creates havoc on your endocrine system. It tricks your body because Bisephenol-a is registering in your system as Estrogen. When your hormones are out of balance many health issues show up.

You will be shocked to find out but it is no secret almost all companies use a BPA lining in aluminum and tin cans to seal them for freshness. So when you buy a can of corn or a can of soda, that container that it comes in is lined with BPA.
What can we do about this?
Buy fresh organic vegetables, it will vastly reduce your consumption of BPA from the tin cans that they are packaged in. Stop drinking soda, both plastic bottles and the aluminum cans deceiving contain BPA. Choose beverages that are sold in glass containers If you want soda, take a look at other brands such as Jones soda which is only sold in bottles. Cola can usually be found in bottles in stores like Cash-n-Carry which cater to restaurant and Markets but allows the public to go in and purchase products. Make fresh juice or drinks such as lemonade, just be away not to store them in plastic.
How do you find large glass containers to store juices in?
Apple cider is widely sold in gallon or 2 liter size glass bottles and can be re-used. Avoid drinking water that is stored in plastic bottles. Instead buy a water bottle that is BPA-free to drink from.
How do you know it is a BPA-free water bottle?
It is made of Glass If it made of plastic it will be labeled BPA-free Most Aluminum water bottles are made BPA free but again make sure it's labeled.
The most important thing you can do as a consumer is to read labels and ask questions.
